Namerind Housing Corporation Opens Public Pharmacy

Profits to Benefit Affordable Housing in Regina

(Regina, SK) – Today marked the public opening of the Winnipeg Street Pharmacy, the latest project of Namerind Housing Corp., provider of affordable housing to the aboriginal community in Regina.

“This project marks the beginning of our next phase in achieving a fully self-sustaining model,” said Robert Byers, CEO of Namerind.  “All profits generated at the Winnipeg Street Pharmacy will flow directly back to Namerind and will be reinvested in affordable housing in Regina.”

The new pharmacy, which flies the PharmaChoice banner is located at 1106A Winnipeg Street in Regina and is situated next to The Regina Community Clinic.

“I applaud Namerind’s independent spirit and am pleased to support them as they work toward their eventual goal of becoming a completely self-sustaining entity,” said John Hopkins, CEO Regina & District Chamber of Commerce. “Their work in providing affordable, quality housing to this community is having a very positive impact.”

The pharmacy represents a branching out for Namerind, whose recent projects include the purchase of commercial retail space to house their team of independent trades people and contractors, and an Aboriginal Patient’s Lodge, which provides accommodation for those in Regina for medical treatments, along with their families and caregivers.

The Winnipeg Street Pharmacy will be managed by pharmacist Bev Brooks and will be open from 8:30 – 12:00 and 1:00 – 5:30 Monday through Friday.
